Hello again everyone! I present to you an interview with a wonderful YouTuber, actor and musician.
He currently has two channels on YouTube which cover various subjects.
The cooking channel Feast of Fiction instructs viewers how to create foods from their favorite books, movies and even video games. It was this channel, which Jimmy features in, that introduced me to Jimmy, and led me to find his channels.
His personal channel Jimmy focuses mainly on his music, and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fun songs and talented musicians.
Finally his third channel Jimmy2 is the one that has really caught my interest. It is a vlogging channel which is composed of short videos about Jimmy and his daily life. Recently however, Jimmy has started a new series of dream vlogs. He showcases his dreams, asks users to share theirs with him, and he holds discussions about them.
He also gives his viewers inspirational messages and tries to inspire them to record their dreams and learn from them.
Here’s the interview I conducted with him through email. Enjoy, and make sure to check him out through the links above. He is worth watching.
What inspired you to begin your dream blog project?
I was thinking of fun projects to do in the new year and another way to really get in touch with the people who follow me online! I also hope the project will bring in a lot more people to watch and discuss along with me.
I’ve always admired the ability to dream and I think it reveals so much about who we are, what we’re afraid of, and what goals we have in life. And so much more! I figured the dream vlogs would be a great way to share and learn from all our experiences.
The response has been pretty great so far! I hope I can continue building an audience and people who want to record and share their own dreams. Hopefully this can be a nice starting off point for anyone who’s ever wanted to start doing their own vlogs! I certainly have gotten a lot of practice from doing it just this short month so far; it’s been a real pleasure to see all the comments and responses.
For the most part no one’s had strong opinions one way or another, but that’s quite alright! I figure people are most interested in delving into their own dreams, and if I can encourage people to think more about their own dreams then all the better.
What are your feelings about dreams?
I really don’t know what our dreams mean, why we have them, and if they’re really something significant or just our brains figuring stuff out. What I’ve learned from just logging my own dreams this past month is that dreams are oftentimes silly, serious, dramatic, sad, and happy all at once. There’s always so much emotion jam packed into my dreams that I’m not sure if my brain just needs some catharsis or if it’s trying to figure out a problem or address an insecurity.
I think there’s a limit to how much we can analyze our dreams, but it is incredibly important to try and remember them. Through all the different emotions, there’s always a nugget of truth in there that we can mine and find out more about ourselves.
What advice do you want to give to people who are interested in their dreams, and what do you think is the biggest lesson we can learn from our dreams?
I’d say if you’re interested in having more dreams or actually remembering them, keep a dream log and be active with it. Make sure you write down or jot down every dream you have as soon as you wake up from one and don’t wait until the morning. It doesn’t even need to be legible, just a couple of key words and images can help you remember an entire dream sequence days, even months later.
Don’t feel like you need to get super philosophical or Freudian with your dreams either – sometimes they are just dreams in the end! As for lessons to be learned, I think that’s unique to each and every person. Just keep an open mind, don’t be afraid to confront the hard truths, and keep dreamin’.
